Propecia for Hair Loss

Propecia pills are recommended to treat MPHL which means male pattern hair loss. This pill is supposed to be taken orally. Propecia for hair loss is officially approved by FDA but can be taken under the supervision of a doctor only. After years of research and used by over a million of people, it has been proved that propecia has long-term effectiveness in treating baldness in men irrespective of their age. This medicine is not recommended for women or children.

 

Propecia slows down the hair fall within three months and after six months one starts growing hair on the scalp. How Propecia Works:

Among androgenic hormones, testosterone is considered as the most powerful hormone. It does not act directly on skin, prostate tissue and follicles. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a form of testosterone acts on these tissues. An enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase converts testosterone in to DHT. This DHT is the main cause of hair loss on the scalp. Propecia hinders the act of 5-alpha-reductase. In this way the testosterone does not get converted into DHT and by the reduction of DHT hormone, hair starts showing on the scalp.

Propecia works with the molecules to stimulate hair growth and stop hair loss. This medication works by selectively inhibiting the actions of the enzyme that is responsible for converting testosterone (male hormone) into a type that weakens the hair follicles.

 

Testosterone and other androgenic hormones (male hormones) have numerous effects on the body, especially on the prostrate gland, hair follicles, and skin. These hormones particularly affect oil-producing (sebaceous) glands and hair follicles and have adverse effects on them.

The best part about using Propecia is that you can actually keep a track record of how well the medication has been working for you. For instance, within a span of 6 months, if the drug has been working well, then you are most likely to see signs of less hair loss and some hair growth. In case you see no results after a year or so, then chances are that no other treatment might be able to come to your rescue.
